“Sit up straight!”
I can hear my mom saying it to me now, or my yoga teacher pulling my shoulders back during meditation.
But let’s be honest, if you’re an online entrepreneur, you’re spending most hours of the day behind a computer and when you’re #GSDing (getting sh*t done) it’s so easy to get in the zone and forget all about your perfect posture.
I’ve tried working on a yoga ball, a stand up desk, and even setting “posture reminders” on my phone to check in & avoid turning into the hunchback of notredame by 2017.
But nothing has worked…. until THIS!
WHY BETTER POSTURE WILL MAKE YOU
HAPPIER AND MORE PRODUCTIVE:
Firstly, when you’re slouching at your desk it sends chemical signals to your brain that you’re getting sleepy & you take in 30% less oxygen, which reduces your energy levels, and can make you feel un-enthusiastic. (You’ll be scrolling through facebook, dreaming about a nap in no time)
Sitting up straight also improves your mood and influences you to think positively; it will help you feel more confident, breathe better, & reduce neck and shoulder pain. #WIN
MY POSTURE HACK:
This is the technique I’ve been using lately that has been working like a CHARM, and I have to give credit to my teacher Yogi Aaron & the Iyengar method.
The best part? All you need it a yoga strap
Step 1 take the yoga strap accross your back underneath your shoulder blades, and pull both ends of the strap in front of you
Step 2 throw both ends of your yoga strap over your shoulders like a back-pack
Step 3 cris-cross the straps behind your back
Step 4 bring whatever is left of the strap back around front and buckle it under your boobs!
Now you might look a little cray but it’s totally worth it! And let’s be honest, I work in my pajamas most days anyway….
